Santa

So, I know that I am like two months behind or at least close to that mark. But I still want to talk about what we did and the fun the kids had over the holidays and I've finally found some time in the morning when Aiden is down and Kyle will play happily to blog. So I'm going to get us caught up.

I am cheap. This happened about the time that Evan came in to my life--you might say because Evan came into my life :)

I don't want to go to the mall or wait in line or have to pay to get a picture with Santa. Especially because we don't do Santa in our house. Evan wants to teach them that he is a cultural icon and that he doesn't exist. I feel that if I am going to spend the money, time and effort to get gifts they want and then wrap them, why would I waste that on giving the credit to a mythical creature. If we could tell our children that a mythical creature puts them in timeout that would be another story. But it is one of the few times that I get to be a "good mommy." Not wasting that!

So I finally got our ward to have a Santa this year because I told them Evan would do it. If you recall, Evan is Santa at work and so last year Kyle saw him there. So I thought, just bring the stuff to the ward party and make my life easier. Unfortunately, some of the stuff from work didn't get packed away the way Evan did it last year, so the costume was incomplete. But another nice gentleman had a red sweater and saved the day.

We thought that for sure Kyle would know it was Evan. But even with the glasses, he did not catch on. We thought he would because we have the picture of them from last year on our fridge and Kyle will tell you that "Santa" is Daddy.

But as you can see, this year, he was still afraid of him. He also told us that it was Santa.

Kyle really wanted to sit on his lap after we were done and kept asking to go "See Santa," which he is doing currently as he sees this pictures and I write this. When you ask what he told Santa he wanted, he says, "candy cane" because that is what Santa gave to all the kiddies. Overall, super successful since the boys enjoyed it, I didn't have to pay, or take them anywhere special. I'm so glad I'm married to Santa.

How fun! Evan makes a great Santa. I volunteered Joel to be Santa in our ward, but no one took him up on it. Boo.
It's so funny that Kyle was still scared, even though it was Daddy!

that is so funny that kyle didn't recognize him. by the way, that is a good point you bring up about why give credit to the mythical creature.
a time out monster does make more sense.
